As a woman who had pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy, it can last longer than 2 years. I have been suffering with this syndrome for 19 years. There are many woman who do not receive the correct treatment or are not believed by the healthcare professionals. This women are left to sufffer in silence whislt struggling to raise babies and young childern, they feel overwhelmed trying to tackle every day jos and activities and are unable to return to the workforce.

For those who are sent home from hospital without treatment they cannot lift or carry their baby and have trouble walking, lifting, standing and sleeping; more likely to suffer post natal depression, they feel isolated because of the inability to leave their homes due to the disabilities of pelvic girdle pain.

More research, education and awareness needs to be done involving both healthcare professionals and the general population.

    Mother of four,

    Julie
